Birthday Fun

My birthday started off with a great hike up Pilot Butte with my favorite hiking buddies, Dad and Henry.

After the hike we came home to eat a delicious birthday breakfast of donuts and bagels!! YUM! Since my birthday was also Easter, we headed over to the local pet store for a doggie easter egg hunt.

Henry was amazing! He could find a treat no matter how well it was hidden. He would knock it off the shelf, break open the egg, then eat all of the treats out of it. It was soooo cute!

Sadly, he was too good at the egg hunt. He ate so many treats, he got a bellyache and didn't eat at all the next day.

We ended the day with a delicious Easter dinner followed by cake, brownie sundaes, and cookies!

The birthday fun didn't end there. Friday night was spent celebrating with line dancing and bull riding with my friends!

The Rest of the Trip

When we weren't busy with lacrosse games or touring people's backyards, errr... I mean rock gardens we were:

Hiking the river trail,

Sampling some beer at the Deschutes Brew Pub,

Making yummy Easter baskets,

And spoiling Henry of course! He loved having Mom in town since she made him eggs for breakfast and chicken for dinner.

What a lucky little doggie!

I'm pretty lucky too to have such great parents!

Pre's Rock, Petersen's Rock Garden and The High Desert Museum

This week has been so jammed packed that I haven't been able to keep up on the blog and I even forgot to mention that Dad got to cross an item off his bucket list when we were in Eugene.  He got to see Hayward Field where Pre ran!

After we saw Hayward Field we drove over to the rock memorial for Pre before heading back home.

Such a touching tribute.
Earlier this week we headed over the Petersen's Rock Garden. According to the write-up in the paper, this was supposed to be a spectacular attraction. When we arrived, we were shocked to see that it was actually in a person's backyard.
It was kind of hilarious and we felt a bit odd walking around someone's yard, but that didn't stop us from doing it.

Although it was a bit weird, the rock sculptures we pretty cool.
And the best part was that the Rock Garden doubled as a peacock farm.

Peacocks were everywhere! It was awesome!
And this was the view leaving the rock garden, can't beat that!

Since it only took about 10 minutes to see the entire backyard
rock garden we decided to visit the High Desert Museum afterwards.

We saw all sorts of neat animals. This River Otter was so cute and playful.

Mom actually pet the snake! As you can see, I maintained a safe distance.
We also saw some turtles and a porcupine. I've never seen one of those before!

This poor little lynx had such a hard life. Someone had declawed him and removed all of his teeth then left him out in the wild to fend for himself. Luckily, a hiker found him and reported it so he could be taken care of. Poor little guy.

Lastly, we finished out the day with some chocolate from Goody's. Yum!

Smith Rock with Dad

Dad and I ventured to Smith Rock on Monday to go for a nice early morning hike.

It was still a bit chilly since we started hiking around 7:30 but it warmed by the time we finished.

Henry decided to show me his appreciation for taking him on the adventure.

Dad got to see Monkey Face in person for the first time!!

Is this place beautiful or what?

I could visit Smith Rock a thousand times over and never tire of this place.
