We knew it was going to be a good day when we saw RGIII's picture right away. Clearly this place showcases greatness!
On second thought...
Just kidding, Tyler!
The Hall was certainly a humbling tribute to the amazing athletes that brought so much greatness to the field day in and day out.
Great ones such as Vince Lombardi...
Walter Peyton...
Jim Brown, Johnny Unitas, Sonny Jurgenson, and Tom Purcell.
There was definitely no shortage of inspiration as we made our way through.
We realized we had picked a great day to visit because the NFC rookies were also visiting as part of their NFL orientation. It was really neat to see some of them were not just players, but fans of the game as well. Some were taking pictures next to the exhibits, reading the history behind the league, and watching videos of the greatest plays of all time.
Since it was NFC rookie day, we knew the Redskins would be coming through sooner or later. We may or may not have waited 40 minutes to catch a glimpse of those rookies, and then stalked them until they got close enough to talk to. Ahhhh, the life of a fan(atic)!
Finally, they came up to our level and of course, we approached them right away. To our surprise, they actually requested a picture with us. I'm not sure if it was Dad's football success or our family's reputation as superfans but we obliged!
Thanks again future SuperBowl champs! You made our day!
Tyler also got a picture with the New York Giants rookies. Carrie explained to them that Tyler was the only Giant fan in a family of diehard Redskin Fans. They agreed that takes a lot of guts and happily agreed to pose with him.
We also got a look at the 2013 NFC East last place finishers. Good luck to the Dallas Cowboys, we hope you lose every game next season.
After the rookies moved on, we did a little Tebowing...
Heather ran with Peyton Manning...
I jogged with Sammy Baugh..
Dad and Seth tried on helmets..
And I showed off my muscles, just a tad smaller than an NFLer.
Lastly, we moved to the SuperBowl room. We had the most wonderful tour guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable and was so excited to share her experiences with us.
She even kept print outs of past rookies who have come through the Hall and made notes on their current status.
She was such a fan and her enthusiasm was much appreciated.
I searched everywhere for Tom Purcell and the Outside Inn touch football team shrine but couldn't find it anywhere. Clearly an oversight by the Hall of Fame committee.
We all had an awesome time and we're more excited than ever for the season opener! 71 more days ....Hail to the Redskins!!!!
