Don't get me wrong, I love football and hockey but there's something special about baseball. Something that will always bring me back to my childhood and the time I spent watching games with Dad and Baba. The smell of freshly cut grass, the taste of warm hotdogs from the grill (or pb&j on rye bread if your Baba), the sound of a homerun ball connecting with the bat and the one and only Jon Miller giving the play by play. There's something so magical about this sport that will always make it America's pastime so it seemed fitting that we would visit the Hall of Fame during 4th of July week.
First, we stopped at Doubleday Field and watched a few minutes of a game.
Then we watched a short film with some baseball highlights in a replica stadium.
Next, we made our way through the exhibits.
Heather, Seth, and Dad read up on some of baseball's history,
Mom hung out with the Babe and marveled at his excellence,
Tyler, Carrie, Madi, and Seth posed for a picture in old stadium seats,
Dad showed his muscles to the steroid users (hugs not drugs, guys),
I learned the complete lyrics to "Take Me Out to the Ballgame". Who knew there was more to that song?!
And Carrie, Heather, and Sami danced to popular stadium songs. Sweet Caroline from Fenway and Thank God, I'm a Country Boy from Camden Yards were two of their favorites. 🎶🎶
Then, we moved on to the team room and showed off our Natitude!
Look who's making Baseball News at the Hall of Fame! The one and only, Bryce Harper!
Way to go Harper!
As a Yankee fan, I think Rob was in heaven seeing all of the New York exhibits.
Dad, on the other hand, was not very happy with the fact that Pete Rose (most hits in baseball) has still not been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Well, Pete if you're reading this (you probably are), you have our vote!
One of the major highlight of the Hall was seeing the Cal Ripken exhibit! The Iron Man breaks Lou Gehrig's record for most consecutive games played.
Another highlight of the day was watching "Who's On First?" That skit never gets old and is always good for a laugh.
Lastly, Sami and Madi posed with some Hall of Fame fans!
I can just see the entire Purcell clan here one day....
