Basketball Hall of Fame

After Cooperstown, we headed east to Springfield, Massachusetts to visit the Basketball Hall of Fame.

In true Purcell fashion, we decided to eat before exploring. Luckily, there was a good restaurant next door.

While we were eating, we realized the Hall of Fame was operating on summer hours and actually closed in just a few hours so we ate quickly and made our way over to see the Hall.

We rushed up to the top floor to take a look at the inductees.

Then we headed over to the theater to catch the Michael Jordan to the Max film.

It was such a great film that really gave us an inside look at some of the defining moments in Jordan's life - not making his Varsity team as a high school sophomore, Bulls Championships, the death of his father, and his attempt to play baseball.
What a determined athlete and what a winner!

This Hall of Fame was much more interactive than the others.

Seth and Tyler attempted to win a jump ball,

Sami and Madi compared their wingspan to Kevin Durant's,

Chris didn't quite understand and decided to give Kevin a hug,

And some of the gang shot hoops.
This Hall of Fame not only enshrined players like MJ,

 Havlicek,

and Larry Legend,

But it also had a huge section devoted to the coaches. It was really neat to see two of my favorites, Coach K and Geno Auriemma.

It was also cool to see hometown hero, Greivis Vasquez, being honored as a Bob Cousy Award Winner.

Whoop, Whoop, Go Terps!

Also, in local awesomeness the coaches from DeMatha High School and Oak Hill Academy were honored for their accomplishments.

These Hall of Fames certainly do not lack motivation (who'da thunk?), as we were treated to quotes on almost every wall. Some of my favorites were...

And my all-time favorite....

And what Hall of Fame would be complete without a group picture?
